IOS 5.1 Is Said To Improve Siri And iOS 5.0.2 Will Cure Battery Life Issues

Last week iOS 5.0.1 was released in attempt to cure the mediocre battery life that was introduced to iDevice with the release of iOS 5. Unfortunately, for many users, this software update did not fix the battery life issues on their iOS 5 devices; despite Apple claiming that the issues would be fixed.

Fast forwarding to this week, and Macerkopf is reporting that Apple is going to release yet another firmware (iOS 5.0.2) to attempt to fix the remaining iOS 5 battery life bugs. Whether or not this update is going to fix the issue(s) once and for all isn’t known at this time, but according to the report, this update is said to extend the iOS battery life to 40 hours of standby and 10 hours of usage. With my tests, my iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 often dies with about five hours of usage and around 10-12 hours of standby time.

Moving along to the second software update scheduled for the near future: iOS 5.1. According to Macerkopf, this update is scheduled to introduce updates to Siri on the iPhone 4S. Currently, Siri doesn’t allow users to access controls like adjusting WiFi, airplane mode, snapping pictures, and opening applications – however, with iOS 5.1, Siri will be able to do all of that and then some!

Stay tuned for future updates on iOS 5.0.2 and iOS 5.1!
