5.0.1 Downgrade Update: TinyUmbrella Updated To Support iOS 5.0.1

Just a heads-up, today noncom updated TinyUmbrella, the most popular SHSH management tool for both Mac and Windows users, to support iOS 5.0.1! Now even though it’s currently impossible to downgrade from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.0, you can at least save your 5.0.1 SHSH files for future use.

It’s said that members of the iOS hacking community are working on a way to bypass Apple’s new security measures when it comes to downgrading any 5.x firmware. However, as mentioned above, there’s still no way to downgrade from 5.0 to 5.0.1 and that will most likely never be a possibility (due to TinyUmbrella’s lack of 5.0 SHSH support and the fact that Apple isn’t signing 5.0 any longer). For now, it’s best to just download the latest version of TinyUmbrella and backup your 5.0.1 SHSH files.
With that said, if you’re still on 5.0 and you want to have an untethered Jailbreak sooner rather than later, don’t upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 (click here for a full explanation)!
You can download the latest version of TinyUmbrella here and make sure to stay tuned for more news related to downgrading 5.x!
